About this place
If pasta is what brings you in, part of the pleasure is discovering the daily special. One diner recalled a courgette and tuna pasta in cream sauce, while another enjoyed the Bolognese. The menu also includes Maarui Cafe’s Bolognese (950 yen) and Suginami Vegetable Pasta, available only on Wednesdays and Sundays. You can look forward to whatever the daily special brings or opt for a named favourite, depending on what you’re in the mood for.
There’s more than pasta for a main meal: options include pork curry (950 yen), vegan-friendly keema curry (900 yen) and lasagne. Pizza choices include Margherita and Quattro Formaggi topped with honey from Suginami. You can also add salad or soup to a main; the salad and soup set (650 yen) is one option when you want a more substantial meal.
For dessert or a tea break, try the banana cake (550 yen) with a seasonal drink. One diner paired it with iced mint tea, and others have praised the cakes and scones. Coffee choices include blended coffee and American-style coffee, as well as caffeine-free chicory coffee. There’s plenty of room to choose a drink to go with something sweet.
Diners have also commented on the colour-changing cream soda, listed on the menu as Butterfly Pea Cream Soda (850 yen). Maarui Cafe is on the 2 floor of Za-Koenji, and the cafe says it welcomes diners even when they are not attending a performance. Visitors have reported finding children’s chairs, tableware and a children’s menu, making it another option to consider for a family meal.
